A free activity everyone can enjoy is watching the sunrise and sunset on a regular basis. Throughout the summer, the sun rises earlier and sets later. How often do you take a moment to enjoy the beautiful colors in the sky as the sun sets and sunrises? We are coming out of a dreary winter where it was gloomy and we rarely saw the sun. Now is the time to take advantage of the sun and take it in through sunrises and sunsets.

A fun outdoor activity for the entire family would be to visit Sleeping Bears Dunes National Lakeshore in Leelanau County. You can find yourself at the Campgrounds playing board games and telling ghost stories. You can hike the trails for all different fitness levels. You can also try the Dune Climb, which will take time. Again, unplug and be present in nature. Michigan is full of nature to enjoy.

Go check out Lake Huron and Turnip Rock. If you are into kayaking, this is one of the best activities for kayak enthusiasts. Kayaking to see Turnip Rock is one of the only ways to see it. While on this kayaking adventure, you are outside of the house and in nature. You are getting sun on the skin and fresh air in the lungs. You are also doing physical activity. Enjoy the Summer Music Scene to Recharge Your Mental Health

Enjoying music is another way to recharge your batteries and improve your mental health. Being present in the moment with music and the environment is great for your wellness.

In June, an electronic music festival called Electric Forest. If this is your type of music, then head out to Rothbury, Michigan. It is a camping festival taking place in the Sherwood Forest. During the day, people can enjoy pop-up installations and at night, they can enjoy the music scene. This is a unique experience if this is your style of camping and music.

In July, at Hart Plaza in Detroit, the Mo Pop rock, pop, and hip hop fest takes place. For 2022, Glass Animals and Big Sean are headlining with 24 artists in total. This is another outdoor event and happens whether it's raining or shining. If hip hop and pop is your genre, here’s another event you should check out.

In August, the Breakaway music festival is making a stop at Belknap Park in Grand Rapids. The headliners include the Chainsmokers, DJ Snake, and Jai Wolf. It’s a two-day music festival that will be a good time.

They are everywhere.  There’s rib fest, fish festivals, blueberry festivals, and more.  Get out of the house and take part in them.   Each event has tons of activities for the families to see and well as do.

There is the annual Michigan Rib Fest at Canterbury Village in Lake Orion. With a name like Rib fest, you should know what to expect. It’s going to be Ribs and BBQ at this event. It is a family friendly event with food trucks, adult beverages, lawn games, wiener dog and pig races, and other entertainment. It happens on the 4th of July weekend.

The National Cherry Festival in Traverse City is a week-long festival for all to enjoy. This huge festival has events after events worth checking out. The list of events includes concerts, cherry farm market, air shows, bbq, yoga, pie-eating contest, cornhole tournament, orchard tours, and more. This is an event that you shouldn’t miss.

There are many activities throughout Michigan to improve your mental health and wellness.  Activities in Michigan are bountiful. To improve your wellness and mental health, unplug, enjoy nature, be outdoors and do activities that bring you joy.
